On Thursday 9 March, the first Czech orchestra will perform at St Vitus Cathedral on the occasion of the inauguration of the new President of the Czech Republic. Under the baton of conductor Jakub Hrůša, in addition to the national anthem, three symbolic works will be performed: Suk's Meditation on the Old Czech Chorale Saint Wenceslas, a movement from Antonín Dvořák's oratorio Saint Ludmila and the Te Deum by the same composer.

The Czech Philharmonic regularly participates in the most important national events. The orchestra, under the baton of its principal guest conductor Jakub Hrůša, will conclude the presidential inauguration together with the Prague Philharmonic Choir. Soprano Kateřina Kněžíková and bass-baritone Adam Plachetka will take the solo vocal parts.
On the day of the inauguration, Prague Castle will be open to the public, who will be able to watch the ceremony on large screens on Hradčany Square and the third castle courtyard. The cathedral will also be open from 5.30 pm.
The concert will start at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Czech Television.
