A project is underway to renew a stunning space at the Rudolfinum, one of the Czech Republic’s most beloved buildings. Watch a brief introductory video for the project:

Terrace for All. And for the Future
The Rudolfinum roof terrace has enormous potential for public use and events, and provides one of the most picturesque views of Prague available anywhere in the city. But the current condition of the terrace means this potential has not yet been realised.
We aim to:
- Open up the terrace for full public access
- Install necessary services to facilitate the use of the terrace for events
- Enhance the experience for visitors and concertgoers at the Rudolfinum
- Make a positive impact on the future of one of the Czech Republic’s most important national cultural landmarks.

We're on the right path
We now have:
- All necessary project documentation and building permits, including a green light for the project from the National Heritage Institute.
- A construction plan from the expert team of Arcona Capital, the project initiator and lead sponsor, with support provided by Finep CZ.
- A Foundation partner in the Civic Forum Foundation, collects funds from individual donors.
- Approval from the Ministry of Culture.
The Terrace Project Team
The Terrace Project is a joint effort by the Czech Philharmonic and its partners. Crucial roles are being played by Arcona Capital (the project initiator, manager and lead sponsor) and Finep CZ, both proud partners of the Czech Philharmonic since 2018. The project also benefits from the involvement of the Civic Forum Foundation and Best Communications teams.

Update: Renovation has begun!
At the beginning of September 2024, after the summer phase of work, the first stage of the renovation of the Rudolfinum terrace was taken over by the building management. In particular, new windows were installed during the summer months (both nicer than the ones from the 1990s, but mainly with significantly better sound insulation parameters). This step was crucial for the continuation of the renovation.
In addition, in the first phase of the work, probes were made into the roof sheathing and envelope structures so that a fixed price could be agreed with the contractor for the additional work and tasks required. A schedule and budget for Phase 2 is currently being developed and will commence in the next calendar year, taking into account the current programme in the Rudolfinum building.

Finances and Timeline
The terrace project is currently predicted to cost CZK 32–35 million. The project will be funded with financial resources administered by the Civic Forum Foundation.
09/2018–03/2021
Securing project documentation and building permits, and other preparatory work. Establishment of a donor fund.
06/2021–10/2023
Negotiations with construction companies and budget refinement. Launch of fundraising appeal. Selection of a general contractor.
07/2024–10/2025
Terrace renewal work undertaken.
11/2025
End of the development stage, project completion and handover.
