The Clever Fox Leoš

Rudolfinum — EDUcentrum 50 minutes Children 150 CZK, adults 250 CZK | Capacity 25 participants

What is opera? To get an answer, we'll go see Mr. Janáček and his pupil Zdenka. Will walk through a mysterious forest, by a pond we'll turn into animals, then we'll knock on a door. In the room inside, Leoš Janáček has just finished The Cunning Little Vixen, and we'll try out what it's like to sing in an opera like that.

Finding your way to Mr. Janáček is not easy, but when we meet his pupil Zdenka who is quickly on her way to a piano lesson, the trip suddenly seems easier. With her, we pass through a mysterious forest, by a lake we turn into animals, and we act out the story of their meeting. Then we knock on the door and enter the room where Leoš Janáček has just finished writing his opera The Cunning LIttle Vixen. What is an opera, anyway? This is explained to us by Mr. Janáček himself, who is not only a composer of genius, but also an enthusiastic teacher who gladly answers all our questions. He teaches us to sing a song, the story of the opera comes to life with short excerpts from an animated film, we play his music on rhythm instruments, and we might even try out a role in his opera, where everyone sings - even the animals.
