Conductor Charles Dutoit to open the 129th season
The Czech Philharmonic’s Chief Conductor and Music Director Semyon Bychkov has had to undergo back surgery which will require four weeks of recovery. He will return to the orchestra at the end of the October. To replace him, Charles Dutoit, one of the greatest experts on French and Russian music of the 19th and 20th centuries, will conduct the 129th Season Opening Concerts. Taking over the first subscription week of concerts will be Polish-German conductor Marek Janowski.
