Semyon Byčkov, who became the Chief conductor of the first Czech orchestra in 2018, has extended his original five-year contract for another five years. Under his leadership, the Czech Philharmonic has established itself among the best symphony orchestras in the world.
"The Czech Philharmonic has become the centre of my life since I started working with it. That is why I am happy that it will remain so in the years to come."
Entering the 127th season brings with it very happy news. A few minutes before the first notes of the opening concert were played, the Philharmonic's General Director David Mareček announced that the orchestra's Chief Conductor Semyon Bychkov is extending his contract with the first Czech orchestra for another five-year term.
As Chief Conductor and Music Director, Semyon Byčkov has led the Czech Philharmonic since 2018. He opened his fifth season in charge of the orchestra with Richard Strauss's Alpine Symphony and Ludwig van Beethoven's Violin Concerto.
